JP French International is the product of an amalgamation of two organisations: JP French Associates and the forensic casework arm of Centre for Forensic Phonetics and Acoustics.
We are confident that our complementary strengths, i.e., the most highly qualified staff, cutting edge technology, and quality assurance procedures, provide the best possible service to those seeking advice and expert reports in this field.
We have a network of carefully selected expert linguists and speech scientists representing languages across the world. Languages include:
English, Arabic, Spanish, French, Italian, German, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, Albanian, Polish, Russian, Swiss German, Serbo-Croatian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Georgian, Baltic state languages, and a range of Indian and African languages
Comparing recorded voices with known suspects to assist with identification or eliminations
Analysing recordings of unknown speakers to gain information about them (ethnicity, accent, age, etc.)
Establishing what was said in limited areas of a recording, or the entire recording (transcription)
Applying sound processing technology to improve the clarity of the recorded conversation
Establishing whether a recording is genuine or edited, and when it was made
Sound Source Analysis
Determining what a recorded non-speech sound is (e.g., a gunshot, a car backfiring, a door banging)
Acoustic Reconstructions of Crime Scenes
Ascertaining, for example, what could be hear by people at various points on the scene at the time of the crime
Automatic Speaker Recognition Technology
We have a close relationship with the internationally leading speech technology company, Phonexia. This involves jointly mounting expert webinars, technology testing, and provision of training. We use their cutting-edge automatic speaker recognition software in our casework.
Pro Bono Work
We undertake some pro bono work, usually acting where there is prima facie evidence of unfairness to a defendant or of persecution, usually at the request of charitable civil rights organisations such as Amnesty International.
