
Dr Katherine Earnshaw (BA MSc PhD) is a forensic consultant at J P French Associates. She has been involved in over one hundred and fifty cases since 2019, including transcription and speaker comparison cases. Additionally, she has carried out research on the impact of accommodation on a range of forensic phonetic parameters and also variation in West Yorkshire accents. As part of this work, she was involved in collecting the ESRC funded West Yorkshire Regional English Database (WYRED), which is the largest forensically realistic spoken corpora containing Northern British English accents. Dr Earnshaw is a member of the International Association for Forensic Phonetics and Acoustics (IAFPA) and the British Association of Academic Phoneticians (BAAP). She has also lectured and taught sociolinguistics to students at the University of Huddersfield.
