Acoustic reconstruction

acoustic reconstruction

J P French Associates have undertaken acoustic reconstructions of crime scenes in order to address different types of questions.  These range from whether a witness could hear certain sounds through different structures to the effects that different head-wear or facial coverings might have on speech.  As with all our work, this is based on practical research, scientific design and testing with specialist equipment.

Depending on the forensic question, we are able to carry out sound propagation tests in the laboratory or at the crime scene itself.  We will carefully design a valid testing method based on consultation with academic experts, and carry out investigations and analysis.  We do this with the best equipment and can source specialist testing systems for individual cases.

Case examples

We have designed and executed a number of acoustic reconstructions.  Some examples are demonstrated in our cases page.
